Biography
Mark Fry is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BTG, based in our London office. Mark plays an instrumental role in developing BTG’s domestic and international financial advisory offering, providing strategic leadership, implementing growth strategies and managing business performance.
Mark has over 20 years of experience in business restructuring and turnaround, particularly restructuring plans. His restructuring services include business reviews, profit and cash improvement, merger and acquisitions strategies, business valuations, debt advisory, solvent reconstructions, exit management, financial restructuring, strategic planning and implementation support.
His sector experience spans construction, leisure, manufacturing, motor retail/trade, property, print, professional services and sport.
Mark regularly handles high profile assignments, including the first exit from administration via a restructuring plan, and the first plan to implement a cross-class cram down of HMRC as a secondary preferential creditor.
Other notable cases include the successful restructure and subsequent sale of Southampton Football Club, and the restructure of a large property building group with £300 million of bank debt. He was appointed to the Landlord Restructuring Committee of Southern Cross to manage the restructure. He also handled the receivership of Zirfin Investments, a complex case which involved a premium property in Knightsbridge with £30 million debt – a sale in excess of this amount was secured.
Mark is active in the property market, dealing with both commercial and residential developments across the UK and overseas. He currently holds directorships of domestic and foreign property companies.
Mark has served as President of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA). He has served as a member of the President’s Advisory and Future Plans Committee, the Membership and Authorisation Committee, General and Financial Purposes Committee and the Education and Training Committee.
In addition, he is a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and he has also been a member of R3’s General Technical Committee. Mark also held the position as Moderator for examinations in the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency for some years.
